The new version has to be downloaded separately from the Microsoft Store and can be run concurrently with the old. Can you run dxdiag from the Start menu, and tell me what DirectX version number is indicated at the bottom of its System tab. Did you run that on a Windows 10 computer? Are you Windows 10 and Directx 12? Perhaps you can explain more. Thank you in advance. In the meantime, many players have found that reinstalling DirectX helps. Build should be pulled, and not be offered through the Microsoft Store!
I wish it had been pulled before I downloaded it! It removes all sound apart from the intro theatricals. Possibly related to the fact that version is absolutely soundless after the intro music is the fact that any changes made to the music and sound levels are not retained when the game is restarted.
I do hope Microsoft can fix these pitiful programming errors soon, as without sound the game is scarcely worth playing. They just revert back to maximum immediately every time you revisit them. Come on!! I have to completely uninstall and reinstall with the latest version just to get a patch, this is nuts. This update was for AoE:DE only.
